I love the message the story gives! Great for adults too!
Excellent lessons for kids and adults! A great bedtime read that can stir up a good conversation with the youngsters.
I liked the message. it’s important for the adult to be interested, not just the child when reading to your child. It held my interest.
The elephant sitting on the ball made me laugh!
The only thing I might change is Leo the Lion’s name. If my name was Leo I wouldn’t want a cranky character to have my name.
Practical, encouraging, engaging, and fun. I love the life lessons and key takeaways at the end. I will definitely be incorporating this into bedtime routines!
My 5 favorite parts:
Peculiar lesson for kids
Parent/Coach discussion guide
Thermostat Challenge
Coloring pages

This book is more than a story, it is an engaging lesson
What a great lessons for all kids.
Loved it!!
I liked the fact that winning was not the only way to succeed. Encouragement helps everyone be a star.
This book is a great read for young readers, especially for kids who are just starting a team sport. Kids, coaches and parents will all enjoy the message.
The Tallest Heart is an outstanding book. The story explains what is happening and why it matters in a clear, age-appropriate way that children can understand and relate to. The lessons about character, encouragement, and helping others succeed come through naturally. I especially appreciate the message that leadership includes how we treat people and help those around us shine.
I love the hands-on, kinesthetic learning opportunity at the end. The coloring activities give children another way to engage with the story and reinforce its lessons. As an educator, parent, and coach, I appreciate the opportunity this creates to keep the conversation going while children participate in something creative and enjoyable.
You have brought character, faith, and leadership together in a thoughtful, accessible way. This is a meaningful book for children and a valuable resource for the parents, teachers, and coaches helping them grow. Outstanding work, Joey!
Wow! A Must Read. Ignoffo is able to articulate what many parents struggle to put into words through the power of a story. This book will help the next generation build great character and instill biblical values.
Great way to teach a lesson that can be understood by kids! Illustrations are great to keep them engaged

Excellent story. Grandma Mary would love it! ❤️ The pictures are so cute. 😃
I loved the theme and relatable story! As a 3rd grade teacher and mother, I will use the thermostat idea with my kids and students. Joey Ignoffo is the ultimate encourager- and his beliefs shine through the words on every page!
The storyline is awesome! Illustrations are adorable! I like how the author goes back and asks those questions for kids to fully understand the story. The challenge page and the coloring page is an extra cute touch!! Coming from a sports mama, I would absolutely buy this book for my kids and other peoples kids as well. Loved it! Great book!
A beautifully crafted story from initial premise to final resolution. Presents a perfect balance in tone for children of many ages - engaging, challenging and yet entirely relatable. It is written with wisdom & warmth, and leaves the reader wanting to hear more of Clark’s story.

A wonderful message to kids. Not only in sports but in life! Cute characters too. Highly recommend
Great story and lessons for kids in an increasingly competitive youth sports landscape. It takes a step back and discusses what really matters…. Encouragement , leadership and being a good person!
Loved this book and its message on how to be a good teammate. Sports can provide so many valuable life lessons and I believe this book has really captured that.
A great encouragement to kids, parents and coaches to find new meaning and purpose in the sports they play! Interactions like this are what build character and memories for life!
Love it Joey! The world needs good coaches. Such a great message for kids.
Excellent read for kids of all ages. We especially liked the goals for the week. What a great idea!
The Tallest Heart is a fantastic book for young athletes and a great reminder that being a great teammate is about so much more than individual performance. I love how it teaches kids that you can make a huge impact on a game in so many different ways. Not just by scoring the most points, making the big play, or being the star. Your attitude, effort, encouragement, and willingness to support your teammates can be just as important.
It delivers a message that every young athlete should learn early: being a great teammate is just as important as being a great player.
As a coach myself, I've seen this plenty of times. A couple of missed shots, a kid who feels left out, and suddenly nobody wants to be at practice. The Tallest Heart gives kids a simple way to understand what to do about it: be a thermostat, not a thermometer. Clark doesn't save the day with thirty points. He saves it with high-fives and kind words, and that's the lesson I want every player on my team to learn. Also, the discussion questions and Thermostat Challenge at the end make it easy to bring the lesson into practice or the dinner table!
In today’s kids sports parents push their children to the brink of stress by constantly yelling and shouting to become the best player on that particular team. Therefore most kids are playing to please their parents and really never have the chance to be part of what it feels like to be a good teammate and more importantly a good person. Sports can achieve that goals and this book not only has a wonderful story but it also has a questionnaire about how to achieve those objectives. Well done Joe, it’s quite a inspiring story and learning experience!
Having coached and taught elementary students for over 20 years, I've witnessed how valuable it is for children to see and hear lessons about teamwork, kindness, inclusion, and character at every opportunity. The Tallest Heart by Joey Ignoffo does a wonderful job bringing these social-emotional learning concepts to life in a fun, kid-friendly way. This heart-warming story reminds readers that every teammate, regardless of skill level, plays an important role and that people learn who we really are through our words and actions. These are lessons our students and athletes need to see, hear, and practice every day. The Tallest Heart is a wonderful read for classrooms, families, and young readers!
This was such a great read!! An excellent message to young athletes on how to be a good teammate and bring positivity into every situation.
This book shares such an important message that I think so many kids need to hear today! I love how it encourages kids to shift their focus beyond themselves and recognize the positive impact they can have on the people around them. Whether your child loves sports or not, this book delivers a powerful lesson in such a unique and relatable way. I especially love the analogies throughout the book and the thoughtful discussion questions, action ideas, and fun activities at the end that help kids put what they’ve learned into practice. Such a meaningful message for kids today!
What an amazing story of being yourself! Great message for kids!
A simple yet profound lesson that not only young athletes...but everyone should learn. This book is a wonderful tool that through discussion questions, opens up the opportunity for dialigue with one's own children or as curriculum for a children's church group. The activity follow up allows children the time to reflect and express themselves creatively through art.
Highly recommended.
The story was wonderfully written. Simple story with a big payoff! Absolutely love how the story speaks to feelings and your choice impacts the final outcome. Fabulous!
I’ve been a pastor for a long time, and I’ve raised seven kids, so I’ve watched a lot of people walk into a room and either lift it up or drag it down. Some of them were adults. Plenty of them were my own kids. That’s why Joey Ignoffo’s "The Tallest Heart" caught my attention.
The central idea is one I’ve used with leaders for years: you can be a thermometer or you can be a thermostat. A thermometer just tells you what the temperature is. A thermostat changes it. Joey takes that idea and puts it right in the middle of a game, which is perfect, because kids get sports. They know what it feels like when the team is losing, somebody’s pouting on the bench, and everything’s going wrong. They also know what it feels like when one player decides they’re not going to let that be the end of the story.
What I appreciated most is that it never feels preachy (and coming from a preacher, that means something). The story is relatable and age-appropriate, and it lets kids figure out the lesson without beating them over the head with it. I could picture my own kids in those moments, and honestly, I could picture myself in a few of them too.
The best part comes after you finish reading. Joey gives parents simple, practical ways to keep the conversation going, and that’s where the real growth happens. A good book can plant a seed, but it’s the conversation at bedtime or on the drive to practice that helps it grow. I can already hear parents asking, “Hey, are you being a thermometer or a thermostat right now?” in the middle of a meltdown—and I can already hear the eye-rolls that come with it. But it’ll work.
If you’re a parent, a coach, a teacher, or anyone who cares about helping kids become the kind of people who make a room better just by walking into it, grab this book. Read it with your kids, then talk about it. That’s where it really shines.
Occasional book updates, new printable activities, and simple ways to bring character and teamwork conversations into everyday life.
